Actually, it is a big hole in the ground similar to what a glacier would do. With this type mining they don’t dig into the ground they cut a path through a mountain. I’ll try to get the footage posted.

One of the important aspects I didn’t mention in the DSLR article is that the Panasonic Lumix GH1 and GH2 can use the sames lenses as the Panasonic AF100. What this means is that you can build a system looking forward to the time when the price point of the AF100 starts coming down.

It really depends on how much you want to spend and the amount and ease of manual control you want. There are units from Canon, Sanyo, Panasonic and others that start at under $500 and very good ones under $1000. What I look for is the maximum aperture of the lens (ie: 1.8 versus 3.5, etc., the ability to easily adjust aperture and focus and a separate mic input. The models change rapidly so it is best to go to the manufacturers websites. These will be found under consuer or prosumer equpment.

woot, thank you! I’ve finally came across a website where the owner knows what they’re talking about. You know how many results are in Google when I check.. too many! It’s so annoying having to go from page after page after page, wasting my day away with tons of owners just copying eachother’s articles… ugh.
